Heat and glare reduction with LLumar dual-reflective solar control window film.

The Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) of Hong Kong recently moved into new headquarters alongside Victoria Harbour. While the 25-story building boasts a strong environmental design, walls curtained in luminous glass caused intense heat and glare from the sun and made the building’s interior uncomfortable and expensive to cool. Several means of solar reduction were employed, from energy-saving glass to aluminum-alloyed shades to cross-ventilating louvers—all to no avail.

The ICAC turned to LLumar for help with solar control. The ICAC first installed LLumar dual-reflective solar control window film DR-25 SR CDF and DR-35 SR CDF in the building’s lobby, and after seeing a significant reduction in heat and glare, the agency decided to move forward and have LLumar solar control window film installed in the entire building.

The ICAC reports that its lobby area, offces, exhibit halls, and restaurants are all significantly more comfortable. Natural sunlight is still abundant within the building, yet the heat and glare are under control. Though it’s still too soon to quantify its energy savings, the ICAC is delighted with the immediate results LLumar has already delivered. As the first participating project in the government’s Energy Efficiency Campaign, it will help document the effectiveness of window film and serve as a case study for future reference.

LLumar window tint is professionally installed by trained technicians and is backed by a lifetime limited manufacturer’s warranty.
